Facebook Messenger has finally crossed 5 Billion downloads on Google Play Store. Which makes it the most downloaded app after a few Google Apps. This messaging app was introduced back in 2008 with the name of Facebook chat. However, the Facebook app and WhatsApp have reached a billion markups in 2019 and 2020.

The Billion Installation markup has been achieved by two non-Google apps according to Android Police. While Facebook messenger becomes the third one, among them.

As most of the users across the globe rely on Social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. This means how these social media apps are popular.

While reaching such a huge milestone, Facebook Messenger still didn’t have end-to-end encryption. Which is said to not arrive until 2022. However, it will be implemented somehow early in 2022. This would help users to talk to each other more privately such as WhatsApp, which does have end-to-end encryption.

Furthermore, the Facebook-owned messaging app (WhatsApp) is working on several new updates. These updates will feature the Voice Messages Review tool, a 24 hours option for disappearing messages, and many more. These new updates are expected to arrive in future updates.

Despite this, Google Translate has also crossed 1 billion+ download on Play Store. However, WhatsApp alternative, like Telegram and Signal is on the way to reach such milestone, but it would take a huge amount of time.
