EPL: Why Top Target Dayot Upamecano Won’t Join Man United Next Summer

RB Leipzig centre back Dayot Upamecano is the top defensive target for Premier League giants Manchester United next year as they bid to bolster their playing squad defensively.

Manchester United were all about strengthening the attack this summer with transfers for right-wing forwards and central strikers. The attention is expected to turn to central defence next summer.

RB Leipzig star Upamecano was a defensive target in the transfer market that ended one week ago but the club concentrated more on the attacking options.

According to report via TeamTalk, Dayot Upamecano won’t move to Manchester United next summer if they don’t qualify for Champions League football at the end of this season.

Manchester United are already facing an uphill task to keep up with the top teams on the Premier League table after a poor start to the season.

The Red Devils have lost their two league games at Old Trafford in the new season and are languishing in the last five on the Premier League table after one win and two defeats from three matches.

French international Dayot Upamecano had a £54m release clause in his old contract before it dropped to £36.5m upon penning a fresh contract at his club.
