The report from the Daily Express has tipped Liverpool to keep midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum at the club ahead of the upcoming season thereby handing rivals Manchester United a major boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara.
Both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Thiago Alcantara who recently played a major role in the Champions League triumph enjoyed by Bayern Munich last month.
Liverpool are the frontrunners for his signature but a move for the Spanish international may be dependent on the future of Wijnaldum at Anfield.

Georginio Wijnaldum is attracting serious interest from Barcelona due to the emergence of Ronald Koeman as the new manager at the Nou Camp.
Multiple sources have stated that Barcelona are preparing a £13m bid for the player who has one year to go on his present Liverpool contract.
Thiago Alcantara is also in the same position as Georginio Wijnaldum, having one year left to run on his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich are open to the sale of Thiago Alcantara and they are holding out for £27m which has proven to be on the high side for Liverpool. On their part, Manchester United are also interested in him despite the signing of Donny Van De Beek earlier this week.
Transfer: Man United’s priority changes following defeat
If the words of former Man United Gary Neville are to be followed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then the priority of the club in the summer transfer window will now change.
The Red Devils’ priority has been the signing of England international winger Jadon Sancho with a lot of time spent on his negotiation but there is yet to be any headway for a deal to be sealed.
Man United started their Premier League campaign on a bad note as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon with an awful performance.

Former Man United Gary Neville is now of the opinion that the Red Devils cannot afford to make a winger their top target as he claims that they need a centre-back more than other departments.
While lamenting the quality of the team, he was quick to say that the Red Devils cannot win the Premier League with the current setup of the team, stressing that the combination of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof cannot be trusted.
According to Gary Neville, Man United need a mobile, quick, dominant, centre-back that will pair with either of the two and that must be done before the end of the summer transfer window to save the season.
Tottenham to raid United of English midfielder
North London club Tottenham are obviously not done with transfer activities as they are reported by Daily Star Sunday to be interested in the signature of Man United’s midfielder Jesse Lingard.
Two of Tottenham’s transfer this summer has a link with Man United as they were also targets of the Red Devils but the North London outfit was fast in making the decision and taking the steps.
It would be recalled that Man United were reported to have held talks with Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon but he ended up agreeing on a deal with Tottenham after holding talks with Jose Mourinho.

The same story was heard of Wales international Gareth Bale who decided in favour of the North London club ahead of the old Trafford, a development that hurts Man United.
Now, it is reported that Tottenham will raid United, not for their target but for their player as they are keen on having a stronger team this season to be able to compete for titles.
The 27-year-old English midfielder has been tipped to be sold for £30 million if any deal is to happen between the two clubs this summer transfer window but what is really unknown is if the Red Devils agree to release Jesse Lingard to Tottenham.
Leeds United eyeing Man United’s Daniel James
Leeds United are reported to be monitoring the situation with Man United winger Daniel James and will make an attempt to snap him up if he is available for sale in this summer transfer window.
Daily Star Sunday claims that should he become surplus to the requirement under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Leeds United will take up that opportunity to make a move for him as they are interested in his service.
Daniel James only joined Man United from Swansea City in 2018 and there have been controversial ratings of the player, despite his speed and quality which makes him linked with a move away from the club.

However, much of his potential is yet to be seen at Man United but there are already moves by the club to bring in another winger in this summer transfer window with Jadon Sancho as the top target.
While a deal for Jadon Sancho is proving very difficult, it is understood that the Red Devils will still sign a winger this window as an alternative.
After suffering a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that his team will have to make more signings to be able to win.
Man United seem to have come in terms with Romero over future
Man United player and goalkeeper Sergio Romero seem to have agreed on the decision to part ways this summer window as the player seeks a new challenge elsewhere.
It is understood that the Argentina international has been unhappy at the club since he was snubbed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the semi-final defeat they suffered against Sevilla in the Europa League last season.
More to it is the fact that he has been relegated to the third choice with the arrival of Dean Henderson at the club after being an understudy goalkeeper for several years.

SunSport has been reliably informed that the 33-year-old will now be leaving the club this summer window with the Red Devils also agreeing to his wish to move on.
It is also reported that the Red Devils chiefs are open to him leav8ing and are working on finding a new club where he will have a regular playing time with the first-team.
Meanwhile, we expect to see a fight for the first-team shirt between Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea and Dean Henderson this season as the latter is keen on taking up the No.1 role after his return from a season-long loan.
Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia are reportedly ready to pay £6 million for the service of Sergio Romero.
Ed Woodward ends Jadon Sancho’s speculations
English Premier League outfit Man United chief Ed Woodward seems to have ended the speculations that the club will be making a move for England international winger Jadon Sancho this summer transfer window.
The interest in the Man City academy product is true and a serious one but the £100 million fee has been the issue which the club cannot meet with the current financial situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
A winger remains a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he is bent on having it done with another option as a deal for the Borussia Dortmund winger now looks impossible.

According to Ed Woodward, the pandemic is creating a huge economic pressure on clubs, stressing that his team is not immune from it, the reason why they must spend wisely.
While insisting that his side must be responsible, he is more concerned about investments in youth players that will assure of the future if they must survive this trying time.
Howbeit, the Red Devils lost their opening game of the season to Crystal Palace and that has created more need to bring in new players to the team and this was confirmed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the 3-1 defeat.
Newcastle now favour move for Chambers
Newcastle are reportedly set to return to Arsenal for the signature of Calum Chambers who is out of favour at the club and is expected to leave for the right offer in this transfer window.
This will be the second return for the Magpies after they earlier made a loan move for Rob Holding but was rejected by the North London club. Manager Mikel Arteta has been able to convince the English defender to remain at the club and fight for his place.
Newcastle are now hoping to convince Arsenal for the signature of Calum Chambers after Rob Holding disappointment and that seems possible with the Gunners also willing to let him go.

However, Newcastle must be willing to spend as their loan bid might not be accepted by Arsenal as a result of the need to let him leave on a permanent deal for £12 million.
It is understood that the North London outfit will not buy the idea of a loan deal and will only be opened for talks with any club that is ready for a permanent deal.
The North London club can boast of more centre-back in the team with the addition of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arsenal in transfer battle for 18-year-old striker
English Premier League club Arsenal are reported to be in a transfer battle with a host of clubs for the signature of French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes striker Georginio Rutter in this summer transfer window.
Georginio Rutter is one of the most exciting young players in the French Ligue 1 to have been attracting interest from across Europe. The likes of Newcastle United, RB Leipzig, Lyon, and AC Milan are all lined up for his signature.
The battle for the signature of Georginio Rutter became intense after the clubs learned that he has rejected a new deal with Rennes and will be set to leave the club any moment from now.

It is also understood that the French side are unwilling to let him go for nothing less than his 10 million pounds valuation which most of his suitors are willing to pay.
Apparently, Georginio Rutter is not a priority for the North London club but no doubt that he will add to the options and bring in the competition in the team after Arsenal scouts gave a pleasing report of him.
His current contract with Rennes ends in June 2021 which makes it important for him to be sold this summer window or risk losing him for free.
Lacazette’s future might not be settled yet
It has been confirmed that the future of French striker Alexandre Lacazette at Arsenal is far being settled following claims by manager Mile Arteta that the club is yet to open start contract talks with him.
This summer transfer window has seen the future of the former Lyon striker being debated with suggestions that he would be leaving as a result of the limited starting role he had last season.
Some reports immediately linked him with a move Italian Serie A outfit Juventus while others claim he is being wanted at the Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

Alexandre Lacazette has come out to dismissal of the reports, insisting that he is happy at the Emirates Stadium and will continue to respect the decision of the Spanish manager.
However, Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports that the French Man who scored his 50th goal for Arsenal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over West Ham United is currently not in negotiation for a new deal with the club.
The North London manager, therefore, noted that he is happy with the player but there cannot be any speculation over his future as the focus for the club is to make more additions in this summer window.
