It is reported that the English Premier League club Arsenal and their chase of Sporting Lisbon youngster Joelson Fernandes ahead of the summer transfer window have hit the brick wall.

The North London outfit were hoping to capitalize on the situation with Joelson Fernandes as the Portuguese outfit were reported to be battling to convince him on a new deal at the club.

The report adds that the player could be considering a new challenge elsewhere, the reason why he was reluctant to sign a new deal.

Arsenal were reported to be preparing a bid of £13.6 million for Joelson Fernandes who is being compared to Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo because of his quality.

It is now reported that the Gunners have been dealt a huge blow as Joelson Fernandes has had a change of mind and would sign a new deal with the club in the coming weeks.

Now that a deal has been agreed upon between Joelson Fernandes and Sporting Lisbon, the youngster will remain at the club until 2020 to continue his development.

This, therefore, means that the Gunners will be turning to other options but manager Mikel Arteta will be feeling disappointed for missing out on Joelson Fernandes.
