Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t deserve to be named in the FIFA World XI unveiled seven days ago.

Wijnaldum made this known during a chat with The Athletic.

According to him, Liverpool teammates Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah should have made the team ahead of Messi and Ronaldo.

Mane and Salah have been a key part of the deadly Liverpool front trio alongside Brazilian international star Roberto Firmino.

The two African stars were influential for Liverpool who ended their seven-year wait for a trophy by winning the Champions League title in the summer.

Liverpool beat Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final to win the trophy with Salah getting one of the goals from the penalty spot.

Second-half substitute Divock Origi scored the other goal for the Reds who won their sixth European title to make them the third most successful team in the history of the competition behind Italian giants AC Milan and Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.

Sadio Mane scored four goals during that Champions League run, while Mohamed Salah scored five goals including his penalty strike against Spurs in the finals last season.
