French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have continued their domination of domestic competitions in the second season of manager Thomas Tuchel and that would not be the yardstick to rate their season when it ends this summer.
Their performance in the Champions League as it enters the knockout stage in the next few weeks will determine how successful a season it was for the French capital club under the guidance of German tactician Thomas Tuchel who can’t afford any more slip-ups in the first knockout stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
Tuchel and PSG had placed themselves in a fantastic position following the 2-0 away win over Premier League club Manchester United in the last 16 (knockout stage) of the Champions League only for them to astonishingly lose the second leg at home thereby exiting the competition when it was least expected.
PSG lost 3-1 at home to Manchester United in the second leg played in Paris and were then eliminated on away goals rule. England striker Marcus Rashford scored a last gasp penalty to send his team to the next round at the expense of PSG.

Since Neymar came to PSG in 2017, the Brazilian international has been involved in just one leg from the available four legs as they crashed out in the last 16 in each of his first two seasons. He has missed the other three legs because of injury and PSG would be glad to have him for the two legs of their last 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund as Tuchel takes on his former club.
The performance of PSG in the Champions League this season will determine the level of transfers ( in and out) this summer. Let’s examine those that could leave the club in the summer.
1. Edinson Cavani
The striker will definitely leave PSG on a free transfer this summer after the club denied him a January move to Atletico Madrid earlier this year. He already has a salary agreement in place with the Spanish La Liga club ahead of this summer.
2. Laryvin Kurzawa
The French left-back is a free agent this summer and he’s expected to leave the club. He is a target for Premier League giants Arsenal.
