The Players Likely To Leave PSG This Summer Revealed

Amuda Segun

Edinson Cavani

French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have continued their domination of domestic competitions in the second season of manager Thomas Tuchel and that would not be the yardstick to rate their season when it ends this summer.

Their performance in the Champions League as it enters the knockout stage in the next few weeks will determine how successful a season it was for the French capital club under the guidance of German tactician Thomas Tuchel who can’t afford any more slip-ups in the first knockout stage of Europe’s premier club competition.

Tuchel and PSG had placed themselves in a fantastic position following the 2-0 away win over Premier League club Manchester United in the last 16 (knockout stage) of the Champions League only for them to astonishingly lose the second leg at home thereby exiting the competition when it was least expected.

PSG lost 3-1 at home to Manchester United in the second leg played in Paris and were then eliminated on away goals rule. England striker Marcus Rashford scored a last gasp penalty to send his team to the next round at the expense of PSG.

Since Neymar came to PSG in 2017, the Brazilian international has been involved in just one leg from the available four legs as they crashed out in the last 16 in each of his first two seasons. He has missed the other three legs because of injury and PSG would be glad to have him for the two legs of their last 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund as Tuchel takes on his former club.

The performance of PSG in the Champions League this season will determine the level of transfers ( in and out) this summer. Let’s examine those that could leave the club in the summer.

1. Edinson Cavani

The striker will definitely leave PSG on a free transfer this summer after the club denied him a January move to Atletico Madrid earlier this year. He already has a salary agreement in place with the Spanish La Liga club ahead of this summer.

2. Laryvin Kurzawa

The French left-back is a free agent this summer and he’s expected to leave the club. He is a target for Premier League giants Arsenal.

Arsenal Warned They Have To Settle For £40million Transfer Fee For This Attacker

Amuda Segun

Arsenal have been warned that they might need to cash out on star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

According to club legend Nigel Winterburn via Gentingbet, the Gunners will need to sell Aubameyang in the summer if he does not extend his contract at the club.

The Arsenal skipper has just one year left on his Arsenal deal at the moment and his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is in serious doubt.

Aubameyang addressed those transfer rumours of a move away from Arsenal earlier this season as he pointed out that his commitment is to the North London club especially since the arrival of new manager Mikel Arteta.

Former Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta has been able to turn the fortunes of Arsenal around for the better in comparison to where the club was when he took over the first team in December 2019.

According to ex-Arsenal left-back Nigel Winterburn, his former club might need to settle for a transfer fee of £40m for Aubameyang this summer and that they have to sell him to avoid a free transfer move when his contract expires in 2021.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Borussia Dortmund in Germany for Arsenal in January 2018 in a £57m deal. His transfer was a club record as at then.

Since his transfer to Arsenal, the Gabonese international has scored 58 goals in 94 matches in all competitions. In addition, he has 13 assists from those games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has spent a large portion of his playing time on the wings as present and past Arsenal managers have not been able to accommodate him and Alexandre Lacazette upfront at the same time.

His position might not influence his decision as to the Gunners’ failure to qualify for Champions League football since he became an Arsenal player.

Manchester United and Barcelona have both been touted as his next destination in recent weeks.

Can Benzema win The Pichichi Award ahead of Barcelona striker Lionel Messi?

Karim Benzema

Lionel Messi has won the Pichichi award for three consecutive seasons now in the Spanish La-Liga, the Barcelona all-time goals scorer still holds a joint Pichichi award with Telmo Zarra, having scooped the award 6 times at Camp now. The Barcelona Striker will hope to scoop the award one more time to become the highest Pichichi award winner.

The Argentinian forward has scored more than 30 League goals in all the six occasions where he barged the award. Messi who is arguably considered as one of the greatest footballers of this generation, the striker is well known for his scoring abilities both in the League and other UEFA competitions.

Goalscoring has not been prolific in the Spanish League this season, the current top scorer in the Spanish League is Lionel Messi, the forward has scored 14 goals in the League, one above Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema who has 13 league goals this campaign. This season is arguably one of the poor seasons in Spain, unlike other top League in Europe in which their strikers have scored more than 20 league goal this season.

The Spanish La-Liga has produced a lot of Top Scorers both in Europe and in the Champion League, the League have been ruling European football for more than a decade now, They have been Producing FIFA best players, Champion League top Scorer for more than ten Year. Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the only players scooping the award. This season has not been impressive for the Ballon d’Or winner, the Argentinian forward has been lagging behind in front of goals this season. however, the question that keeps ruminating in the heart of some football fans is“ can Benzema win the Pichichi award ahead of Lionel Messi this season’’?.

Karim Benzema was signed by Real Madrid from Lyon in the year 2009; the France International has scored 240 goals and 133 assists in 496 appearances at Santiago Bernabeu. The former Lyon forward who just surpassed the Portuguese in Real Madrid assists chart with a decisive pass to Lucas Vazquez against Osasuna in the La-Liga Santander. The match ended in Madrid’s favour, beating the Struggling team 4-1.

Karim who is ready to show the world that he is capable of filling the void left by Christiano Ronaldo; the France international has endured a lot of criticism by many football pundits due to his inability to produce a sterling during Ronaldo’ era at the club.

It appears that the Real Madrid striker has been under the shadow of Christiano Ronaldo who has won the Ballon d’Or  5 times, Although the Portuguese is never considered a hero in the team despite winning four Championship League and 4 Ballon d’Or at the capital. His impact was overlooked even though he still remains an all-time goal scorer at Real Madrid despite his controversial move to the Serie A.

Their Champions League loss to Ajax in the round of 16 brought a lot of criticism by many football lovers who believe Real Madrid should have edge through if Ronaldo Real is present in the team, Although the Holland team how their class once again by eliminating Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the Portuguese still shows his class, scoring Onana twice In the two encounters.

The current Madrid team star is Benzema, the France international is arguably the best player in the squad right now, this is the right time to show his class in the squad.

Beating Lionel Messi for the Pichichi award should be one of his major targets. He has not featured for his country for more than a season now, if he can intensify his scoring, he could be considered by the France manager who is losing hope on Oliver Giroud.

Both Messi and Benzema are currently in a looping in goal drought, they have not score a goal in their 3previous matches in League, but have been prolific in these matches creating assists for other players to score.

Benzema who is under Ronaldo’s pressure will want to show the Madrid fans he can perform better. The only way to prove he can shoulder the Spanish team by scoring more goals. The Real Madrid team will be having a difficult Schedule in March they will be playing Man City, Barcelona and Real Sociedad in their next five fixtures.

Madrid are currently leading Barcelona with a point on the League table, their 3 points above Barcelona was reduced after playing 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo in the League.

The team will solemnly depend on the France international since their summer signing from Chelsea, and Eden Hazard is still struggling to adapt with the pattern of play in the Spanish League.
