Everton are closed the deal by appointment former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager to replace the sacked Marco Silva.

Sky Sports claimed that Carlo Ancelotti is already on Merseyside for talks with senior Everton officials as the club hopes to wrap up a deal to appoint him as the new manager this week.

Carlo Ancelotti is a free agent after he was sacked as the Napoli manager last week Tuesday.

The former AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) manager was dismissed shortly after leading Napoli to the Champions League knockout stage.

Napoli have since replaced him with his former player at AC Milan, Gennaro Gattuso.

The Italian Serie A giants will face Barcelona in the first knockout stage of the Champions League next year after the last 16 draw took place on Monday.

For Everton, Marco Silva was sacked by the club after 18 months in charge of the team on the back of the Merseyside giants dropping into the bottom three.

The club named legend Duncan Ferguson as the interim manager and he has led the Toffees to four points from the last two Premier League games since the dismissal of Portuguese tactician Marco Silva.
