Arsenal were one of the active Premier League clubs in the winter transfer window last month as they signed two players to boost their defensive options ahead of the final third of this season.
The final third is always the business end of a season and the Gunners, buoyed by manager Mikel Arteta, has a lot to play for between now and the end of this campaign.
This season has been torturous at times for Arsenal fans but the appointment of the aforementioned Arteta has galvanised the club positively.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been able to revive the North London club from the slumber of the Unai Emery days though it must be pointed out that his task is still a work in progress.
Arsenal are still in the mix for Champions League qualification plus the cup competitions namely the FA Cup and the Europa League.

The Gunners are in the fifth round of the FA Cup where they’ll face League One team Portsmouth, while they will face Greek club Olympiakos in the last 32 of the Europa League.
To aid the final weeks of this season, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have signed Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares on loan deals.
Spanish defender Pablo Mari has joined from Flamengo FC of Brazil, while Portuguese national team star Cedric Soares has signed on loan from fellow Premier League side Southampton.
Arsenal have paid £4m for the loan transfer of 26-year-old Pablo Mari with the option to sign him permanently in an £8m deal.
Pablo Mari has been given the jersey number 22 at Arsenal thus following in the footsteps of the likes of Francis Coquelin, Gael Clichy and Denis Suarez.
Fellow Spanish player Denis Suarez last wore the number 22 shirt and that was last season when he joined on loan from Barcelona.
