Manchester United needed to splash the cash on new players to boost the club after a difficult start to 2020 could be easily traced to injuries to key players like Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay. They have made their move by spending a lot of money on Bruno Fernandes whom they signed from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United have paid an initial fee of £46.6m for Bruno Fernandes plus add-ons (£7.5m) and bonuses (£12.7m).

Bruno Fernandes is a Portuguese midfielder that would add a goal threat to a Manchester United midfield lacking in goals in the Premier League this season.

The 25-year-old has scored goals for fun in the past seasons. In addition, he can play anywhere in midfield but the biggest need for Manchester United is a creative midfielder popularly known as the no. 10 role behind the striker and Bruno Fernandes is expected to assume that role immediately.

When manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a fully fit squad, Bruno Fernandes will lineup in midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

They would be joined by the forward trio of Daniel James, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

David De Gea is the first choice goalkeeper at Manchester United in front of a defensive quartet of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, club skipper Harry Maguire and Brandon Williams.
