Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has revealed that he decided to stay at the club so as to win trophies despite the strong interest from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.

Victor Lindelof talked about his decision to sign a new contract at Manchester United during an exclusive interview with Swedish media outlet Expressen.

He also revealed that he was aware of the numerous transfer links about him and five-time European champions Barcelona.

Victor Lindelof signed a new contract earlier this year.

His new deal will expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Swedish international centre back has become an important player for Manchester United since his transfer from Portuguese champions Benfica.

Manchester United paid around 35 million pounds to sign him from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

He was the last major centre back signing at Manchester United before the world-record signing of Harry Maguire this summer.

Harry Maguire became the most expensive defender in the history of world football after the Red Devils paid 80 million pounds for his transfer from fellow Premier League side Leicester City.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have formed a potent centre back partnership at the heart of the Manchester United defence.

They have contributed to the fact that Manchester United have the fourth best defence in the Premier League this term.
