Manchester United officials are increasingly confident that they will sign two new players before this transfer window ends according to the publication from The Atheltic.

Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players have endured an inconsistent season to date in the Premier League and the Norwegian tactician is keen to bolster his squad especially with the injuries to key players like Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

Manchester United are prepared to beef up their squad in midfield and in attack this month with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes as a serious target in a deal that could be as much as £60m.

Bruno Fernandes has a release clause of £85m in his Sporting Lisbon contract having signed a new deal in November 2019.

Despite the release clause inserted in his contract, Sporting Lisbon are open to a sale for much less transfer figures according to Portuguese media portal Record.

It was revealed that Sporting Lisbon won’t sell the player for any fee less than €70m (£60m).

Bruno Fernandes was linked to Manchester United at the start of this season before he ended up staying at Sporting Lisbon.

North Londoners Tottenham Hotspur also have a need for midfield reinforcements and they are interested in him.
