£8.5m transfer done, agent confirms talks, star player set to leave

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been the subject of transfer interest from German Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin in the past few days as new manager Jurgen Klinsmann targets new players to boost the team for the second half of this season.

According to popular German newspaper Bild, their stance on signing a defensive midfielder like Swiss international Granit Xhaka might have changed in the past hours after they signed another one from the second tier of German football.

Hertha Berlin have signed defensive midfielder Santiago Ascacibar from VfB Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga II as confirmed by trusted media portal Bild.

It was revealed that German capital club Hertha Berlin paid £8.5m for the 22-year-old Argentine player.

The aforementioned transfer could put spanner in the works of an Hertha Berlin move for Xhaka whose agent confirmed recently that the player has agreed a deal with the capital club and that the Arsenal officials are in the know about his decision.

Granit Xhaka has set his sights on leaving Arsenal despite the fact that new manager Mikel Arteta is keen to keep him at the club at least beyond the upcoming January transfer window.

He fell out with the Arsenal fans in October and that has played a part in his decision.
