Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang recently became the skipper after former recipient Granit Xhaka was stripped of his captaincy duties following the altercation with fans during the Crystal Palace home game in the Premier League last month.

Being named the new Arsenal captain has not stopped the transfer rumors surrounding his future.

He has a contract that runs until the end of next season at Arsenal and the Gabonese international striker has been linked with Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona in recent weeks.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have lined up a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the event that the Gabonese striker leaves the club in the New Year.

It was revealed that the Gunners are plotting a move for Flamengo striker Rienier Jesus who broke into the first team at the Brazilian Serie A club this season at the age of just 17.

Rienier Jesus has a release clause of £60m in his contract at Flamengo whom he helped to win the 2019 Copa Libertadores title.

Flamengo have succeeded River Plate FC of Argentina as the new Copa Libertadores winners after they came from behind to beat the Argentines 2-1 courtesy the brace from Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa also known as Gabigol.
