Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to make some changes to his starting XI as he bids to return Manchester United to winning ways after the poor result against Watford last weekend.

The Manchester United manager and his players produced their worst display of the season and they were rightly punished by a Watford team at the bottom of the table.

Watford had struggled for wins and goals before they played hosts to Manchester United in a week 17 league meeting at the Vicarage Road on Sunday.

After a goalless affair in the first half, Watford pounced on two mistakes at the start of the second half to secure a 2-0 victory thus recording only their second win of the current league season.

Watford had scored a paltry nine goals in 17 games before the two goals scored against the Red Devils.

For the upcoming Newcastle United clash at home on Boxing Day, Solskjaer is expected to make at least three changes with the likes of Luke Shaw and Daniel James getting a rest, while Jesse Lingard is expected to be dropped for Paul Pogba.

Manchester United starting XI vs Newcastle United: David De Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Brandon Williams; Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba; Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
