Young Star Who Broke United’s Record Receive High Praise Ahead Arsenal Clash
Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood is fast becoming one of Solskjaer’s favorite players after his impressive goalscoring display for the Red Devils against Rochdale during the week.
The 17-year-old was offered the chance to lead United attack against the League one side on Wednesday due to Marcus Rashford’s injury.
The youngster lived up to fans expectations as he found the back of the net during the encounter which they won via penalty kicks.
With Rashford yet to return to full fitness, Greenwood is expected to maintain his spot in Solskjaer’s starting line-up when the team play host to Arsenal on Monday.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, the Red Devils boss showered praise on the teenager.
According to Solskjaer, Greenwood has been extremely wonderful for his team since the start of the season. He praised the youngster for his confidence which has seen him score two beautiful goals in three matches.
“He’s proven when he’s been on the pitch, Astana and Rochdale, when you get him in the box he’s dangerous. What’s pleased me about him is he doesn’t turn down chances to finish when you’re not 18 yet and you keep trusting yourself.”
Greenwood will hope to continue his fine form for the Old Trafford outfits when he comes up against Arsenal defenders who have poor at the back of the pitch.
Greenwood became the youngest player to start a game for United first team when he was named in the starting XI against Crystal Palace last season.
