North London giants Arsenal are sweating over a new deal for two of their most important players.

According to Goal correspondent Charles Watts, Arsenal have been unsuccessful in their quest to sign both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to respective new contracts.

Lacazette has less than three years on his current contract at Arsenal, while strike partner Aubameyang has less than two years on his present Arsenal deal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for a then club-record deal.

Borussia Dortmund received £57m for that transfer.

Alexandre Lacazette had been the club-record transfer some six months earlier.

The two players have been the key men scoring the goals for Arsenal especially Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese international was the joint topscorer in the Premier League last season with 22 goals.

He finished as the leading goalscorer alongside the Liverpool duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 50th goal for the Gunners at the weekend during the disappointing Premier League draw at home to Midlands club.

It took him 78 games to reach that landmark for the North London giants.

He has scored eight league goals this season thus making him the fourth leading goalscorer in the Premier League.
