Manchester United are set to battle Liverpool for Germany international Timo Werner in January, according to reports.

The 23-year-old striker has scored eight goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig this season, and he is drawing the attention of the two great clubs.

However, football experts Duncan Castle believes that the Reds have all it takes to beat Manchester United in the race for the player.

According to him, the Merseyside club can promise the striker of a regular Champions League action, unlike United who are struggling to be among the top four clubs in the country’s top flight League.

“The choice for the player would be to go to a team who are struggling even to get into the places for a Europa League qualification never mind Champions League,” he said.

He also claimed that the young striker will choose Jurgen Klopp over Solskjaer due to the German’s experience and his past results as manager.

The same can’t be said about the Norwegian tactician, who couldn’t prevent Cardiff from being relegated to the second tier.

” As well as the attraction of working for Jurgen Klopp, if you were to go to any high level footballer at present and say to them your choice is to play for Jurgen Klopp, who has been successful in German football and has taken Liverpool to European Cup and top of the Premier League, or you play for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer whose history pre-Manchester United is getting Cardiff City relegated and some degree of success in Norway, that would be a very easy choice for any player.” he concluded via thesun.
