Former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy has picked the Ballon d’Or winner for this year after the list of nominees was released earlier this week.
France Football Magazine released a 30-man list of nominees for the 2019 Ballon d’Or Award and Manchester United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy has a potential winner in mind.
In an exclusive interview with Spanish media outlet Sport, the ex-Dutch international player said that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the best player in world football.
He went on to tip Lionel Messi to win the award later this year.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or Award in 2018 but the Croatian international player was one of the major absentees on the list of nominees released by France Football Magazine on Monday.
Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or award last year some months after he led Croatia to second place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy believes that Lionel Messi deserves to be the latest winner of the Ballon d’Or Award.
Messi had previously won the Ballon d’Or award five times just like big rival Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus who have also won the award on five occasions.
Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has already won FIFA Best Player for this year ahead of Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk and the aforementioned Ronaldo.
