Former Real Madrid manager Vicente Del Bosque has made a big decision on the ongoing debate in the football world.
Lionel Messi and former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the football world for the better part of the last two decades and that prompted the debate over who’s the better player.
Del Bosque told Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo that he’ll pick Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi and Ronaldo have won 10 out of the last 11 Ballon d’Or Awards with the only exception coming last year when Luka Modric was named the recipient of the award.
Ronaldo won the first of his five Ballon d’Or awards while he was at Manchester United.
Luka Modric was rewarded for a stellar year which saw him win a third successive Champions League title with Real Madrid after the 3-1 victory over Liverpool in their final clash in May.
The petite midfielder also played a key role as Croatia surprised a lot of football fans and pundits by reaching the final of last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Modric and Croatia reached the final before they were beaten 4-2 by eventual winners France.
Luka Modric was named the best player of the tournament.
