Manchester United reportedly contacted Brazilian star Douglas Costa over the possibility of luring him to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, the 28-year-old winger couldn’t complete his switch to the Premier League club due to Sarri’s desire to have him at Juventus this season.
While revealing the reason behind his client’s decision to remain at Turin, Costa’s agent Giovanni Branchini told Daily Mail that former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and current manager Sarri were unready to lose the pacy winger due to their love for his work rate.
According to Branchini, Costa has always been a prime target for the Red Devils since the last two transfer periods but Allegri and Sarri were reluctant to sanction his move to the Premier League club.
‘I sincerely say that Allegri and Sarri have never thought of letting him go,’
‘The interest of Manchester United was strong, a club that has always been interested in the Brazilian.’
‘It was not the only club but in England it was certainly the most active team on the trail of Douglas Costa.’ he revealed to the British media.
However, he hope to see the Brazilian star play for the English club before the end of his career because the “Premier League is a beautiful championship”
