Italian Serie A giants Napoli warmed up for their Champions League clash with Liverpool with a straightforward victory at home to Sampdoria in a week three clash.
Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 courtesy the goals from Dries Mertens either side of the halftime interval.
The goals from Belgian international Mertens was enough to give Napoli the three points at stake and also prepare them for their Champions League opener against Liverpool.
The win was enough to take Napoli to third spot on the Italian Serie A table behind Torino, defending champions Juventus, Bologna and league leaders Inter Milan.
Napoli met Liverpool twice in the Champions League last season.

Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Napoli in the corresponding fixture last season courtesy the last-minute goal from Lorenzo Insigne.
