Seven-time European champions AC Milan have completed the signing of Portuguese attacker Rafael Leao from French Ligue 1 club Lille.

His official announcement as an AC Milan player was made earlier on Thursday.

The player earlier underwent his medical this week before the official confirmation was made on Thursday.

The Rafael Leao transfer to AC Milan is worth €30m (£27m).

Rafael Leao has signed a five-year deal at AC Milan until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Portuguese forward was linked with a move to Arsenal at the start of the current transfer window.

Rafael Leao had a very good season for Lille in his one and only season at the club whom he joined after his contract at Sporting Lisbon was canceled.

The player canceled his Sporting Lisbon contract last summer before joining Lille where he scored eight league goals to help his team to second spot at the end of the last French Ligue 1 season.

He formed a potent strike partnership with Nicolas Pepe who recently joined the Gunners for a club-record fee of £72m.

Pepe scored 22 league goals for Lille last season.

Lille have moved to plug some of the attacking gap left by the duo of Leao and Pepe with the signing of Victor Osimhen from Sporting Charleroi FC of Belgium.
