Italian Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign Empoli midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

According to experienced Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the seven-time European champions have agreed a move for the Algerian international player for €16m plus €1m in add-ons.

Ismael Bennacer was on the payroll at North London giants Arsenal before he left the Gunners to join Empoli at the start of the 2017/18 season.

The 21-year-old went on to become a key player for Empoli but he was unable to prevent the Italian club from suffering relegation at the end of the last campaign.

Bennacer and Empoli suffered relegation on the last day of the season after a 2-1 defeat at Lazio on the final day of the season.

The Algerian player was one of the best players at Empoli last season and his form has earned him a move to AC Milan.

He will sign a five-year contract with the Rossoneri.

Ismael Bennacer is presently the Algeria squad at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt.

He was named the best player from the group stage at the tournament following his performance for Algeria.

The Desert Foxes of Algeria will face Guinea in the round of 16 at the weekend.
