North London giants Arsenal reportedly opened talks to sign Gremio defender Walter Kannemann during this summer’s transfer window.
Arsenal want to sign a new defender this summer after the average defensive outing from last season.
The Gunners conceded 70 goals in all competitions during the last campaign including 51 Premier League goals thus making Arsenal one of the worst defensive teams in the top half of the table.
The Arsenal interest in Walter Kannemann was confirmed by Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte.

It was revealed that Arsenal want to fend off the interest of fellow Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers who are also interested in the Brazilian centre back.
Walter Kannemann is valued at £12m by his Brazilian Serie A and it’s within the transfer reach of Arsenal who have a budget of £45m.
Arsenal defender Shkrodan Mustafi could be on his way out to accommodate the signing of new quality defenders this summer.
The German centre back has spent three years at Arsenal since his move to the Emirates Stadium from Spanish club Valencia.
Apart from Mustafi, Arsenal skipper Laurent Koscielny might also leave the Gunners this summer as Arsenal manager Unai Emery plots an overhaul on the Gunners defence ahead of the new season.
