The Red Devils are in the market to sign a replacement or an upgrade for defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and have considered Tottenham star, Eric Dier to be an option after ruling themselves out of the race for Declan Rice.

It has been suggested that Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set his sights on bringing more British talents to Old Trafford and has chosen Eric Dier has one of his first prospective recruits as he intends to bring him to fill  Matic’s boots.

Serbian defensive midfielder, Matic, has had his game time drop significantly after an impressive start to his Manchester United career which he joined after he signed from Chelsea in a £40M deal.

According to reports from The Times, they claim that United’s bosses are considering Eric Dier of Tottenham Hotspur to provide an upgrade to Nemanja Matic.

The England international, during Mourinho’s time in charge of the club in 2017 was on United’s radar, however, his regular playing time was reduced and has fallen down the pecking order in Tottenham’s midfield options, no thanks to poor run of form and niggling injuries, making 18 appearances for the Mauricio Pochettino led side, behind Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.
