Former Arsenal player Paul Marriner has discouraged the club from signing Manchester United defender Eric Bailly who has been strongly linked with the Gunners in this winter transfer window.

Recent reports had revealed that Arsenal failed in a loan bid for the Ivorian international center back.

Reacting to those transfer rumours in his latest interview as monitored by the Daily Express, footballer turned pundit Paul Marriner said that Eric Bailly is erratic and therefore not good enough for either Arsenal or his present club, Manchester United.

Eric Bailly has been attracting the headlines in recent days following the transfer interest shown in the former Villareal and Espanyol player by the Gunners.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer weighed in on the Arsenal transfer rumours for Eric Bailly during his pre-match press conference for tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round clash away to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

The ex-Man United striker said he was not surprised with the transfer speculation.

Eric Bailly joined Manchester United from Spanish La Liga side Villarreal in the summer of 2016 in a £30m deal.

The 24-year-old was the first signing of the Jose Mourinho era that came to an end in December after the Portuguese manager was axed at Old Trafford.
