Spanish La Liga giants Sevilla have completed the signing of Argentine attacker Lucas Ocampos from French club Marseille.

His transfer was confirmed earlier on Thursday.

Sevilla paid €13m (£11.7m) to secure his transfer from Marseille.

He’s the fifth major signing of the summer at Sevilla after Diego Carlos, Joan Jordan, Mounes Dabbur and Luuk De Jong.

The 24-year-old had one year left on his deal at Marseille and that prompted the club to conclude a deal for him.

Marseille had to sell him this summer to avoid the player from leaving the club for nothing next summer.

Lucas Ocampos was previously a target for West London giants Chelsea.

The Argentine attacker joined Marseille on loan from fellow French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco during the 2015 winter transfer window before his loan move was made permanent later that year.

He spent some was on loan in the Italian Serie A during the 2016/17 season with two clubs.

Lucas Ocampos was on loan at two clubs namely AC Milan and Genoa where he made 26 appearances for both clubs in the league.

He returned to Marseille in the summer of 2017 and the Argentine was part of the team that lost 2-0 to Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final.
