Young Dutch defender Sepp van der Berg is reportedly set to undergo his Liverpool medical on Wednesday as he closes in on a move to the newly crowned European champions.
Sepp van der Berg plays his club football for Dutch Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle at the moment.
According to the Daily Mail, van der Berg will have his Liverpool medical on Wednesday after the Reds won the race to sign him ahead of other clubs on the European football scene.
The Dutch defender was linked with German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich as well as the Dutch Eredivisie duo of Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven.
The Dutch u-19 international made 15 appearances for PEC Zwolle last season and was also the subject of a £2.25m bid from Italian Serie A club Sampdoria during the January transfer window but the move didn’t materialise.
PEC Zwolle had no choice but to sanction his move to Liverpool due to the fact that he has just one year left on his contract with the Dutch Eredivisie club.
His medical at Liverpool has been scheduled for Wednesday ahead of a £1.79m move to the club.
Sepp van der Berg has been likened to Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk who helped the Reds win the Champions League earlier this month.
