Ajax Amsterdam skipper Matthijs De Ligt has emerged as one of the most sought-after players during this summer’s transfer window after a stellar season with the Dutch Eredivisie giants.
Three-time European champions Manchester United are amongst the clubs keen on a deal for the young Dutch international centre back though they will have to fend off the challenge of Spanish champions Barcelona who are seen as overwhelming favourites to sign the player.

The Red Devils have already made a lucrative offer for the player in their quest to sign him this summer and De Ligt will make a decision on the said offer according to the publication from the Daily Telegraph.
Earlier reports had claimed that the Premier League giants made an offer of around £350,000 per week for the Ajax Amsterdam captain in addition to a £70m transfer fee.
It was also revealed that Manchester United are ready to build the team around him though a lack of Champions League football is a negative for the Red Devils in the keenly contested race to sign the hugely talented defender.
Matthijs De Ligt has attained an almost invincible status at Ajax after he led them to the domestic double for the first time in over a decade during the just concluded season.
