English Premier League outfit Man United have long been in the chase for Italian Serie A outfit Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly but they might not go beyond that as league champions Man City are reported to have entered the race.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Man City boss Pep Guardiola seeks to have the Senegalese international in his squad next season and has launched a juicy offer.

This means that the Red Devils will no longer be able to land the star defender as there is no doubt that the Citizens will win the race for him.

The league champions have parted ways with their legendary defender and captain Vincent Kompany which makes it necessary for them to land a replacement for him this window.

The Napoli star has shown the prospect that he can play in the English League because of his physicality and that is why former Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho insisted on signing him.

It has been added that Kalidou Koulibaly will rather consider a move to Man City because of his chances of winning titles and his willingness to play in the Champions League as the Red Devils failed to finish in the top four on the table.
