Italian Serie A giant AS Roma are plotting a summer move for Manchester United midfielder Fred according to the latest reports coming out of the British media.

Fred has spent just one season at Manchester United following his lucrative move from7 Ukrainian champions Shakthar Donetsk last summer.

According to the specific publication from popular English news outlet Metro, Roma want to sign Fred who has not lived up to expectations since his big money move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Manchester United splashed a whooping sum of £52m on Fred whom they signed from Champions League campaigners Shakthar Donetsk and it’s safe to say that the Red Devils are yet to get their money’s worth following his transfer last year.

Fred worked with Paulo Fonseca while he was at Shakthar Donetsk and the Portuguese tactician is keen to reunite with Fred following his appointment as the new AS Roma manager.

Paulo Fonseca won the Ukrainian top flight league title with Shakthar Donetsk before moving to Italy.

The target for the 46-year-old will be to guide AS Roma back to the Champions League after they missed out for next season.

Italian champions Juventus, runners-up Napoli, surprise team of the season Atalanta and Inter Milan took the Champions League spots as Roma finished in a disappointing sixth position.
