North London giants Arsenal are on the verge of making their first signing this summer according to the latest reports emanating from the British media.
The Gunners need a new goalkeeper in the first team in the wake of the retirement of veteran shot-stopper Petr Cech.
According to the specific report from the Independent, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Markus Schubert.
The 21-year-old shot stopper will leave German club Dynamo Dresden this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
Markus Schubert will join Arsenal on a free transfer in the coming days and it was revealed that the Gunners have already started sourcing for a loan move for the young goalkeeper either in Germany or in the English Championship club.
Ex-Czech Republic international shot stopper Petr Cech announced his retirement earlier this year.
The 37-year-old played his last game for Arsenal last month though it was not a happy ending for him.
Cech was in goal as Arsenal conceded four goals against Chelsea during the Europa League finals played in Baku at the end of last month.
Chelsea won the Europa League title by beating the Gunners 4-1 and that affected the North Londoners who were unable to qualify for the Champions League as a result of the defeat.
