Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has called on the club to overhaul the playing squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign billed to start in two months time.
The ex-Arsenal right-back revealed that the Gunners need to sign quality players in all departments after missing out on the Champions League for the new season in a chat with TalkSport.
Arsenal had two options in their quest to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition but were still unable to achieve that target at the end of the just concluded season.
The Gunners missed out on three of the first four places on the Premier League table which would have easily secured a Champions League spot.
Arsenal could only finish the league season in fifth position.
They also had the opportunity to qualify for the Champions by winning the Europa League title.
Arsenal reached the Europa League final before they were beaten by London rivals, Chelsea.
The Gunners were beaten 4-1 by the West Londoners in their final clash played in Baku before the end of last month.
Arsenal have just £45m to spend this summer excluding player sales but Lee Dixon believes that the said transfer warchest won’t be enough to transform the playing squad at his former club.
