Mourinho Reveals The Misery Behind His shock move for Lee Grant.
Manchester United manager José Mourinho has revealed the reason behind his surprise move for Stoke City goaltender Lee Grant, who hasn’t been featuring for the Britannia outfits.
Many Red Devils faithfuls are hoping there manager would go for a well-known and well-established goalkeeper, but they were amazed when the club confirmed the netminder’s signature on a free transfer.
However, Mourinho has publicly revealed the reason behind the move. According to him, United’s third-choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira is a very young and promising player who needs much game-time to improve and he might not get that at Old Trafford next season.
The Portuguese disclosed the youngster would be loaned out this summer so as to feature regularly in the upcoming season. He also said that once Joel is out on loan, the Englishman will provide more options at the goalkeeping department next season.
This means the former Stoke City goalie will become United’s third goalie behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero, who is presently out injured.
Lee Grant, 35, is in the twilight of his career and he would be hoping to make the best use of the opportunity given to him by Mourinho in the coming season.
However Grant might be an unknown figure to soccer fans, his experience and composure might work to his advantage in the coming season.
