It was earlier claimed in the English press that legendary manager Alex Ferguson had given his strong backing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take charge as manager of English Premier League outfit Man United but latest reports have claimed otherwise.
Reports according to Mail on Sunday claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was never the choice of the legendary manager, revealing that Alex Ferguson had wished for the signature of North London outfit Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as the man for the job.
It would be recalled that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was first handed the job on a temporal deal after former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked but having impressed within his first few months, he was given the go-ahead on a permanent deal.

But the report claims that the legendary coach had met Mauricio Sarri for in 2016 with the hope of convincing him for the job but that did not happen eventually.
Therefore, it is claimed that Alex Ferguson is disappointed with the Red Devils’ executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward for not being involved in the decision making as he would have influenced the announcement of the Argentina manager for the job.
Howbeit, Mauricio Pochettino has been doing a great job with Tottenham as he now guides them to the Champions League finals later in the week.
