Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a shock move for Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira.

According to The Sun, the 2014 German World Cup winner has emerged as a target for Manchester United as he’s about to be released from his contract at Juventus.

Sami Khedira has been declared surplus to requirements at Juventus by new manager Andrea Pirlo.

Club legend Pirlo has been appointed the Juventus manager this summer on the back of the dismissal of Maurizio Sarri.

Pirlo has six midfielders in his team following the summer arrivals of Arthur and Weston McKennie and the aforementioned Khedira will be the man to make way in January despite the fact that he still has one year to run on his Juventus contract.

Brazilian international Arthur signed for Juventus from Barcelona in a swap deal with Miralem Pjanic, while young American international McKennie has joined on loan from Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga.

Sami Khedira joined Juventus from Real Madrid in 2015 and he has won the league title in each of his five seasons in Turin.

He has not been a regular for Juventus in recent seasons. The German made just one assist in the league last season as he was restricted to 12 games.
