The Red Devils have been reported to be planning another swoop for the signature of Barcelona and French defender, Samuel Umtiti, according to France Football.

The future of the World Cup winner at the Camp Nou is very unlikely, he has been linked with a move away from the club with Arsenal and Manchester United mentioned as possible destinations for the Frenchman.

The chances of Arsenal continuing with their reported pursuit of Samuel Umtiti are slim as they have already made some defensive additions with Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

However, Manchester United are yet to settle their defensive challenge and that could lead them into making a move for the French defender who is out of favour with the Spanish La Liga outfit.

While Barcelona can boast of other options in their team for the season’s challenge, they also want to cut down their wage bill as a result of the financial downturn, a major reason why Samuel Umtiti could be sold.

Pundits have told manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he needs to bring in another centre-half that will pair with Harry Maguire to avoid unnecessary defeats.

Samuel Umtiti could also be the ideal player for the Red Devils knowing his experience in the game at a big level.
