Manchester United will reportedly wait till next summer to sign highly rated RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
This is according to the publication from the Daily Star which revealed that the £38m release clause in the player’s RB Leipzig contract will become active in the summer of 2021 thus paving the way for the Red Devils to sign him.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still searching for the perfect defensive partner for Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence.

Harry Maguire signed for the Red Devils from Leicester City last summer in an £80m deal but the club is yet to find a suitable centre back partner for him. The likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and the constantly injured Axel Tuanzebe have failed to step up in this regard.
Manchester United believe that young French player Dayot Upamecano is the right central defensive partner for the previously mentioned Maguire but they will have to wait till next year to have a chance of adding him to the payroll at Old Trafford.
Dayot Upamecano showed his qualities in the Champions League last season as he was one of the best defenders in the competition as RB Leipzig reached the semi-finals.
