Former Chelsea player has stated that Frank Lampard has not gotten the perfect formula for his defence line up after watching Chelsea record another clean sheet in the 3-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor.
The Blues boss invested heavily in his defence in the last summer transfer window as he brought in England full-back Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after a floppy last season with a lot of defensive errors.
This is the fifth clean sheet for Senegal international goalkeeper Edouard Mendy since joining the West London outfit to replace former first-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Joe Cole hailed the defensive partnership of experienced Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma for stopping the trouble by Burnley attackers.
The former Blues winger told BT Sport that Cesar Azpilicueta is no longer the best for as he advocates for the same backline that played against Burnley to continue as a unit.

“That back five now, the battle for me will be to keep them on the pitch and let them grow as a unit. It’s the most important unit on the pitch it’s where you can build your team but you have to be consistent.
“When Thiago Silva went down there with cramp I was fretting because he’s been such an influence since he came in, you’ve just got to keep him on the pitch. Mendy’s been excellent and I just like the fact you’re going to watch Chelsea games and I’, not panicking.” he told BT Sport
The West London outfit did not start the season on a good note and that sparked speculations that manager Frank Lampard would be sacked but after the summer transfer window, he has gotten the grip of his team and that has reflected on the results.
Frank Lampard stands a better chance of meeting the target of a title win and qualification to the Champions League.
