Former Arsenal star Alex Hleb has revealed that his biggest regret about his career is leaving Arsenal for Barcelona as at the time he did.

Alex Hleb dumped the North London outfit on July 26, 2008, to the Spanish la Liga giants and claims it is one of the biggest mistakes of his career.

“Many years later and I still think about it. I don’t understand what happened or why I made the decision.”

The former Barcelona winger added that the Spanish giants were the best team in the world at that time and that was what attracted him to Spain but he was actually happy at Arsenal because of the friends he had at the club and the manager.

Alex Hleb also revealed how he cried when he spoke to former manager Arsene Wenger during the holiday before he left the club because he was told by the French boss that he is still needed at the club.

The winger admitted to winning titles at Camp Nou but he did not get enough playing time as he did at Arsenal and that affected his career as he was unable to find his way to any of the top teams again.

Alex Hleb cannot be forgotten at Arsenal for his dazzles and his attacking spirit but his stay was cut short by his move to Barcelona. He eventually returned to England but not to one of the big teams which is a limit to the prospect he had.

Howbeit, Arsenal have moved on since Alex Hleb left the club but he still has his mind at the club and will never forget all of the memories he never got elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Alex Hleb never won the Premier League at Arsenal and that is the current project being embarked upon by current manager Mikel Arteta.
