Much has been said about the impact of the absence of Virgil van Dijk on the Liverpool team but Jordan Henderson has made it clear that the development cannot stop the team from delivering good results.

Virgil Van Dijk suffered a knee injury during the Merseyside derby and will miss his first Premier League game for the first time since January 2018 and that has been regarded as a huge blow on the team’s progress for the season.

In his reaction, Jordan Henderson admits that his team will miss the former Southampton defender, noting that he is the best and that will be the same story for any team that has a player of his caliber.

However, he noted that the team cannot continue to dwell on Virgil Van Dijk’s absence as they must move on to deliver good results before his return.

Jordan Henderson noted that there is a need not to make an issue bigger than it needs to be, there is a need to focus on the work ahead to produce better results in his absence.

He is confident that the players in the team, especially Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, and Fabinho can do the job as well as he cannot swap them for anyone else.

This might not go down with some pundits that are of the opinion that Virgil Van Dijk cannot be replaced by any player in the team and have asked the club to make new signings.
