Arsenal have parted ways with Uruguay international Lucas Torreira on a permanent deal after he sealed a loan move to Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The question of if Lucas Torreira would return to Arsenal again might have been answered by his father, Ricardo who is of the opinion that his son will not stay at the Emirates Stadium to sit on the bench.

That was the situation for Lucas Torreira last season which ensured departure from the club, especially with the addition of Thomas Partey to the team and the fact that Mikel Arteta prefers the combination of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos.

Ricardo maintained that his son is a very passionate player who gives his all to the team but it did not count for the Spanish boss and that is the reason why he had to place him on the bench.

He, therefore, gave the hint that Lucas Torreira will not return to join the North London outfit if he will not be assured of a starting role after his loan term.

Meanwhile, arsenal did not include a compulsory buy in the loan deal for Lucas Torreira to Atletico Madrid and that means that there will be a new negotiation between the two clubs if they are interested in keeping him permanently.
