Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has revealed why he was unable to secure a dream move to Spanish giants Barcelona during the recently concluded transfer window.
Lyon attacker Depay had already agreed on personal terms with Barcelona but the Spaniards were unable to agree terms with his French Ligue 1 club.
In an interview with NOS, Depay said that certain rules stopped him from securing a transfer to the Nou Camp.
Memphis Depay talked about his failed transfer shortly after the international friendly match between his Netherlands team and Mexico.

He was unable to prevent the Netherlands from losing 1-0 to Mexico at home courtesy the strike from Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.
Memphis Depay has less than a year on his existing Lyon contract and was close to joining Barcelona in a €30m deal before it collapsed.
New Barcelona manager wanted Depay as the perfect replacement for Luis Suarez who had left for La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
Uruguayan international Suarez was pushed out of the club by Ronald Koeman. He signed for Atletico in a €6m.
Barcelona have started the season without a proper striker though the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Ansu Fati and Lionel Messi can do a job there effectively.
