It’s an understatement to say that the presence of midfielder Mesut Ozil has turned into something of a conundrum at Arsenal who are desperate to get the German World Cup winner off their wage bill.
Ozil earns £350,000 on a weekly basis making him the highest paid player but he has not featured for the club since March as he has been frozen out of the team by manager Mikel Arteta.
The Daily Mail claimed that the Gunners are trying to get his hefty wages off their wage bill and that the only way is to pay him off in January.

By then, Ozil will have six months left on his contract. The Gunners will have to spend £13m to get this done.
Mesut Ozil had some offers in the just concluded transfer window but the German was reluctant to leave Arsenal as he has always maintained that he’ll see out his contract.
The latest development is that his name was conspicuously missing in the Arsenal player list for the UEFA Europa League this season.
Mesut Ozil, defenders Sokratis Papasthathopoulos and William Saliba were all left out of the team for the competition.
The German is also expected to miss out on the Premier League squad list.
