Manchester United are still sweating over a new contract for one of their best players as they try to persuade him to stay at the club for the long haul.
Spanish international shot stopper David De Gea is undoubtedly a key player for Manchester United but the Red Devils could lose him to another club if they don’t tie him down to a new contract at Old Trafford.
The Daily Mirror claim that David De Gea is not lowering his wage demands as Manchester United try to sign him to a new contract.
It was revealed that the Spaniard is holding out for a weekly pay package of £350,000 thus making him the second highest earner at the club behind Chilean star Alexis Sanchez who earns almost £500,000 per week including an appearance fee of £75,000 per game.
His wage demands would be a significant increase on his current wages of £200,000 on a weekly basis.
David De Gea has been linked with major European clubs like Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the past.
Juventus and PSG still retain their respective interests in him while Real Madrid have moved on to Thibaut Courtois whom they signed from Chelsea at the start of this season.
His current Manchester United deal runs out next season.
