Arsenal and Man United will be set for another transfer battle when the January transfer window is opened as both are reported to be linked with the signature of Dayot Upamecano.

It is understood that the two English Premier League clubs will make an attempt for his signature after the player refused to give his nod for a move in the just-concluded summer transfer window.

The central defender has a release clause in the region of £38 million and the Gunners could decide to activate it in the January window.

Arsenal can boast of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in the team and this adds to the quality of Rob Holding and David Luiz in the team. This makes the interest in Dayot Upamecano sound unreal.

However, Man United have the need of a defender than Arsenal as they have struggled to win games this season. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was expected to bring in a defender in the just-concluded summer transfer window but what he got has been difficult to convince the fans.

Dayot Upamecano is not the only player the Red Devils have shown interest in as they also have Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian Serie A outfit Napoli on their list.
