West London outfit Chelsea are reported to be plotting to hijack Arsenal target Thomas Partey from Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid before the end of the summer transfer window.

Thomas Partey is one of the targets for the North London outfit this summer transfer window but Atletico Madrid have been stubborn in negotiating the fee after insisting on his release clause of £45 million.

Obviously, the Gunners are not any close to the deal as they are yet to meet activate the release clause while much attention is now being paid to French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

However, Chelsea are reportedly set to hijack the deal as an alternative to West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as they are in need of a defensive midfielder.

West Ham United are refusing to let go of the England international and the Guardian is reporting that the Blues could consider the signature of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Telegraph reports that the West London scouts have been watching the Ghanaian international and might be convinced of his ability to make it at the Stamford Bridge.

However, Atletico Madrid have made it clear that they are willing o sell the defensive midfielder but that will not happen with anything less than his £45 million release clause.
