Man United were able to seal the signature of Alex Telles on the summer transfer deadline day after many weeks of waiting but little did we know that they had an alternative had they not gotten him.
The Red Devils needed a left-back player, and Alex Telles was not the first choice option. Sergio Reguilon was first on the list but he rejected the move and considered joining North London outfit Tottenham from Real Madrid.
The Red Devils had to meet the demand of the Portuguese outfit to bring in the Brazilian international for a fee of £15 million on a four-year deal.

However, it is understood that Man United had Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri as an alternative for Alex Telles and would have signed him if an agreement was not reached with FC Porto, according to respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Emerson Palmieri wants to leave the West London outfit after the Blues secured the signature of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City. He is now surplus to requirement at the Stamford Bridge.
The West London outfit had placed a £26 million asking price on the wantaway left full-back and that could be the only issue for the Red Devils as it could be too expensive for their budget.
