Seven-time European champions AC Milan have pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, according to The Athletic.

The Rossoneri wanted to sign the German international until they were quoted a price deemed to be too expensive.

AC Milan have completed the loan signing of fullback Diogo Dalot from Manchester United and were hoping to add the aforementioned Rudiger as well.

The latest update means that London club Tottenham Hotspur, Spanish La Liga team Barcelona and French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are left in the running to sign the player deemed to be surplus to requirements under Frank Lampard at Chelsea.

Chelsea signed a lot of players this summer and are keen to let some fringe players levae the club to lower their huge wage bill.

The aforementioned Antonio Rudiger is expected to be one of those players to leave the club.

He has been left out of the Chelsea squad for the past games.

The free transfer signing of Thiago Silva this summer has opened up a space for the exit of a centre back.

Fikayo Tomori was initially linked with an exit until recently when Frank Lampard decided to put Antonio Rudiger on the transfer list.

Diogo Dalot

Italian Serie A outfit AC Milan have confirmed the capture of Diogo Dalot on loan from premier league giant, Man United after weeks of speculations linking him out of the club.

Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma had made moves to secure the service of the Red Devils player but they were unable to convince the club of a deal.

Diogo Dalot who has chosen AC Milan ahead of AS Roma will now wear jersey number 5 at San Siro as he can no longer secure playing time under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Chris Smalling has also been linked with a move to AS Roma with the player also keen on the move. The Serie A outfit are yet to meet the demand of the Red Devils and that could be an issue to be dealt with before the end of Monday.

Chris Smalling spent last season with the Serie A outfit and wants to return while they are also in need of his service on a permanent deal. The Red Devils are requesting for £20 million while AS Roma want to play £13 million.

What is now unknown is if Chris Smalling will be allowed to leave the club or remain as the Red Devils are also yet to sign a new defender.

Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma are no longer alone in the chase for Man United defender Diogo Dalot as AC Milan are now reported to have joined the race with the hope of winning it by Monday.

Diogo Dalot is being linked away from the Red Devils with AS Roma having a real interest in him. They have submitted an offer to land him on loan but that has been rejected by the Red Devils who seek a permanent deal for the player.

It is understood that talks are still ongoing as the major target for AS Roma at Man United is Chris Smalling. He is the player they seek to bring in on a permanent basis.

However, AC Milan are now indicating an interest in Diogo Dalot and are understood to have started talks with the Red Devils over the possibility of having a deal.

Should AC Milan present a better offer to Man United for Diogo Dalot they could win the race ahead of their league rivals AS Roma in the coming days.

Diogo Dalot

Italian Serie A giants AC Milan are in pole position to sign Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot, according to reports coming out of the Italian media

Dalot is a versatile Portuguese fullback as he can effectively operate as a left-back or as a right-back.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that AC Milan are ahead of rivals AS Roma in the race to sign the aforementioned Dalot.

Manchester United have already turned down an offer from AC Milan for the young player and the Rossoneri have returned with a second bid.

AC Milan have made an offer of a loan deal for Diogo Dalot with the option to sign him afterwards.

Diogo Dalot has struggled for game time at Manchester United in recent times with the duo of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw well established at right-back and left-back respectively.

The Portuguese player signed for Manchester United from FC Porto in 2017.

Diogo Dalot is not the only fringe player linked with an Old Trafford exit as the likes of Jesse Lingard, Daniel James etc. are also available for a transfer.
