Arsenal fans already have their attention on the club’s two major targets for the midfield role but that might not happen because of the difficulty in sealing the deals.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar from Lyon are the two targets for the Gunners this summer window after the signing of Willian from Chelsea and Gabriel Magalhaes from French Ligue 1 outfit, Lille.

The Gunners have been making efforts to convince both Lille and Atletico Madrid over the deal but that has proved difficult as both clubs are not willing to negotiate the asking prices for their players while efforts to reduce the financial burden by including a player as a swap deal was turned down.

It is now understood that the North London outfit might not be able to seal the move for either of the players and will now consider other options with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho as a possible deal as Sky Sports reports that Mikel Arteta is keen to add another midfielder to his books.

Jorginho has been linked away from the Stamford Bridge to join former manager Maurizio Sarri at Juventus but the speculations have been laid to rest with the sack of the Italian manager. The player could still leave the West London outfit with Arsenal considering submitting an offer.

EPL: Could Willian be unhappy at Arsenal?

Willian

The statement credited to Brazilian international Willian has given the hint that he has not been happy since he joined the North London outfit Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to the former Chelsea star, the role he has been forced to take by manager Mikel Arteta leaves him frustrated as he has struggled with it because it is a new experience for him.

Willian dumped the West London outfit after refusing to agree on a new deal to join the Gunners. He has since been a regular face at the Emirates Stadium, starting five of the Gunners’ first six Premier Legsaue fixtures.

The best of Willian’s performance was seen in his opening game of the season against Fulham. The game ended 3-0 in favour of the Gunners and the Brazilian handed two assists but fans have since been begged to see that level of performance and are yet to find any.

Fans have wondered what could be wrong with Willian and the answer seems to have been given that he lacks the freedom to create chances under Mikel Arteta’s positional play policy.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, Willian said “It’s been a cool, new experience. I hadn’t worked with a coach with that mindset
“The positional game doesn’t mean that you have no freedom on the pitch, you have the freedom to move, but many times you have to respect the position, what the coach asks, the instructions, understanding that it’ll be better for the team.

“It may happen that you don’t touch the ball and get frustrated, but Mikel always says that, wait a minute, the ball will arrive. I’ve been learning a lot” he stated.

The Gunners have lost their last two Premier League games and are eager to win again when they face Man United at the weekend.

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted to being concerned about Arsenal’s performance in the final third of the pitch as they are unable to score goals in their last two Premier League games.

Despite being solid at the back, the North London outfit suffered 1-0 defeats against Man City and Leicester City respectively in their last two outings. This happens because they have not been scoring goals and manager Mikel Aretta has cried out by insisting that there must be an improvement in that area.

The last game saw the Gunners dominate Leicester City before Jamie Vardy came from the bench to condemn them to defeat wh8ile an early goal scored by French forward Alexandre Lacazette was denied by a VAR decision.

Expressing concern, Mikel Arteta noted that it is the duty of every player on the pitch to improve the attacking solutions.

He stated that the inability of his team to score when playing at the Emirates Stadium gives him a major concern. “It is the role of everybody, first of all, mine to give them the solutions and structure to attack better.”

Alexandre Lacazette was blamed for not concerting other chances he had to hand a point to Arsenal in the game against Leicester City as he has also not been in his goal-scoring form.

Meanwhile, Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is being criticized for dropping in form after he was handed a new and bumper deal earlier this season.

Mikel Arteta has refused to blame either of the players as he is confident that the former Borussia Dortmund player will score goals but he must be given time to achieve this.

The North London outfit will resume action against Man United at the weekend for a Premier League clash as they have had a perfect start in the Europa League so far.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given a major hint to fans that Gabon international forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will soon return to his goal-scoring form.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been the highest goal scorer at the North London outfit for the last two seasons, scoring as many as 23 goals across all competitions but he has been quiet for the last few Premier League games.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward has come under attack as he is yet to score in the last couple of Premier League games. He was on the score sheet in the Europa League but two successive defeats against Man City and Leicester City in the Premier League have forced fans to call him out.

The Spanish boss who has refused to blame Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hints that he could be used in a central role during subsequent games with the hope that it could get him scoring goals again
While Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, and Willian have been tried in the centre-forward position without delivering the desired result, it could be the turn of the Gabon international with Mikel Arteta saying “Yes that’s a very possible thing” when asked.

“It will depend on the games, it will depend on who he’s surrounded with. I think it’s very important to see who is around him and why we’re doing it.

“Not just the fact that we’re doing it, why we’re doing that and what we’re going to get by doing these positive things. Of course, there’s a very strong possibility to play him as a (number) 9.”

Mikel Arteta, therefore, stressed that there is no confidence issue with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he expressed confidence that the forward will get scoring again.

This has been the call by many fans and pundits to the Gunners boss and that could be have been answered already, starting from the Premier League clash against Man United at the weekend.
